7pm JEWELS: A LGBTQ+ HANGOUT! Santa Maria House of Pride and Equality hosts a Zoom meeting every Friday at 7:00pm for all LGBTQ+ identifying individuals. “Our goal is to provide a safe space for our community to unwind enjoy each other's company! Saturday September 26th


1pm-3pm Stoke The World’s Adulting Academy presents History of the LGBTQ+ Rights Movement and LGBTQ+ 101 with Michelle Call. This (video chat) workshop will cover the history of the movement for LGBTQ+ rights from the Stonewall era forward, including AIDS, Marriage Equality and the recent Supreme Court decision on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.Once we have historical perspective, we'll move into a discussion of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, including terminology and tips for creating affirming environments before opening up to questions. This event is streaming live to Facebook, no link is needed.


Sunday September 27th


1pm-3pm Shower The People SLO. Complimentary showers will be available each Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00pm. The shower trailer will be located between the library at 995 Palm Street and the adjacent parking garage. Hot showers will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.


7pm-8pm Sunday Evening Rap (LGBTQ+ AA Group) meets every Sunday evening. During COVID-19 closures, the meeting is on Zoom with meeting ID  206 301 937.  A password is required. To receive the password email and someone will send it along.




Monday October 5th Pride Committee Meeting Pride 2021 is going to be a virtual celebration, and we are excited to announce that Cal Poly's Pride Center will also be joining us for a May Pride Month 


For the past 25 years, GALA's Pride Committee has worked to bring some fantastic Pride Events to SLO - from performances at the PAC to Guest Bartender Night to Tommi Rose Drag Shows and Pride in the Plaza and so much more. We are so grateful to all the folks who worked tirelessly to make this events happen! But this year things are different - and not just because of COVID-19.


We are excited to involve San Luis Obispo County and surrounding communities in an intersectional and diverse Pride from the community and for the community. We have some jumping off points - but we want your ideas and input. We already have a few ideas for some smaller events, and we have an opening budget to work with. Please come, or send a representative, to our first meeting on Monday October 5th at 6pm

Sunday October 11th, 5:30pm-8pm - SLO City Council Candidates Forum California Assemblymember Evan Low will open this candidate forum for SLO City Council candidates hosted by the Gala Pride and Diversity Center and moderated by the League of Women Voters. Streaming live to Facebook and the LOWV website - no link necessary


Monthly donation to the Gala Pride and Diversity Center is now live. As we expand our services and hope to pay for therapist-led support groups as well as increasing our reach in the County even $1 or $5 per month makes a difference to us - please consider!  (Note you can make your donation anonymous if desired.)
