Monday January 18th

On this Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2021 we reflect on the institutional racism Dr. King fought against and our responsibility to carry his work forward. The Gala Pride and Diversity Center is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we will continue to work towards that goal. On Saturday we held an intersectional code switching panel which you can see here: https://fb.watch/35oxIMri28/

We think of Tiyanna Alexander and Kimberly Patricia Cope, Black transgender women already murdered in 2021 and we look forward to working with our community partners  to dismantle the structures that perpetuate inequality.#BlackTransLivesMatter

#BlackTransLivesMatter

Tuesday January 19th

6pm-7:30pm Board Meeting. This meeting is open to the public. Zoom Meeting ID: 893 1351 9473 | Passcode: GayAgenda

You may have heard that DA Dan Dow would be attending this meeting. That has changed, and here is our statement:

When District Attorney Dan Dow accepted our invitation to attend a board meeting, we indicated that although our board meetings are public they are attended by the board and about 5 other people.

Now that it seems like a large number of people are attending, including the press, DA Dow has declined to attend. Instead, the DA's office offered a private meeting with board members to address our concerns.

We hope that genuine discussion may be facilitated in this way and we welcome the opportunity to sit down with the District Attorney. However, the board believes that the questions asked are in the public interest, and intends to relay the salient points once this private meeting has taken place.

Please note: Online Transgender Support Group, Trans*Teen Peer Support Group, and Stand Out Parent Support Group are gathering at various times throughout the month. Send a note to email@galacc.org or tranzcentralcoast@gmail.com  for details.
