What’s Going On Week of 11-30-2020

Good morning from the Gala Pride and Diversity Center! ¡Buenos días desde el Centro de Orgullo y Diversidad Gala!

We have some exciting updates for you!

Please welcome our new Center Coordinator, Serrina Ruggles (She/they). Serrina is a community builder and education coordinator who enjoys busy days and resource development. Their long term leadership within the local community has honed their management abilities and reinforced their belief in the importance of inclusivity, education, and accountability in making a more just and accepting world. You may have seen her last year volunteering in the office and at the library - and we are delighted to promote this to a professional relationship.

NEW Therapist-led Transgender Group Therapy!

Beginning in January 2021 and running monthly for 6 months (with opportunity to renew) Rocio will be running an adult (18+) transgender support group open to any individual who identifies as transgender, nonbinary, or questioning. Fill out this form to be contacted for a 15 minute intake conversation. There are 6 spots left!

If you’re in need of LGBTQ+ affirming therapy contact bilingual and bicultural therapist Rocio Anaya at therapist@galacc.org

We are still looking for an office desk and other furniture to spruce up Rocio’s Center office - do you have anything? Send a note to email@galacc.org

Mental Health First Aid Training note from Alysia Hendry:

My department is hosting a series of free Adult Mental Health First Aid trainings throughout December and I wanted to extend the invitation to you and your colleagues over at The Gala Pride and Diversity Center. We know that the pandemic has affected all of our mental health in some way or another, and now with the days seemingly shorter, we want to make sure our community is equipped with the skills to support one another through mental health challenges.  We usually charge for the materials of this training, but are offering it for free through the end of the year. Please feel free to share with your team and also folks outside The Pride Center who you think might be interested in taking it.  Note that it is being offered virtually! Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions. The flyers are attached and the sign up links are as follows:
